Historic Ranch
Located just 12 minutes from Concan, Rockin River Ranch has 6 unique places to stay: a Historic Lodge, River House, 2 Cabins & 2 Bunkhouses. All have views of either the seasonal flowing Dry Frio River, mountains or fields.
There are Indian mounds by the creek bed where everyone can search for arrowheads. The original concrete dam provides the ranch with a year round flow of fresh water.
The private, electric gated ranch centers around the party Pavilion, with a Historic riverside Lodge, two side by side bunkhouses called Cowboys & Indians, a riverside house called Rio Vista & 2 charming creekside cabins called Lone Star and Gone Fishin. All are just steps from either the river, pool or creek.
As you enter through the electric gate, you're immediately taken by the line of sight where the skyline meets the mountain top and then dips down below to the grassy meadow. After a short, lazy, meandering drive you'll first see the crown jewel of ranch, the Historic Lodge. Before we go there, lets first mossy over to the Pavilion and lets talk about what you'll find there.
The Pavilion
At the center of the ranch is a huge, covered pavilion that functions as an outdoor kitchen & dining area with stove, (2) refrigerators & ice machine. There's also a half bath. The pavilion is the perfect place for large scale al fresco, family dining.
With smart TV, party lights & lots of picnic tables, everyone can line up at the kitchen window counter for chow and shut the window when the Chef say's "kitchens closed". There's also two huge charcoal smokers for the grill master.
Outside Fun
Outdoor entertainment includes a large swimming pool, zero gravity lounge chairs, volleyball court, soccer field, 2 horseshoe pits, tetherball, custom rock fire pit & lots of tree swings. Old fashion fun includes taking a walk down river to the deep dam, climb trees or watch the night sky turn colors as the sun sets. The ranch is an outstanding place to play Hide & Seek!
The entire ranch is encompassed by ancient, hand built river rock walls, pathways and riverside bulkhead. Careful of the driveway that's lined with short rock walls! More rock pathways lead from the parking area to the houses & down to the rivers edge, including steps directly into the river! Be sure to check out the serpentine rock wall below the Lodge.
Just wait until you see the riverside bulkhead made from river rock that runs the entire length of the river. It's truly a sight to behold. There are huge, oak trees scattered across the ranch that provide relief from the sun, while the old, weathered cedar and rock pillar fencing look straight out of a western movie. There's unlimited places to take great family photos!
The Historic Lodge
The crown jewell of the ranch is the Historic Lodge, built overlooking the river. The Lodge has 2 exceptionally large, long covered porches with sturdy rocking chairs & porch swings to take in the views and really relax. The front porch looks out toward the pool and peaceful meadows, while the back porch overlooks the beautiful river.
Rio Vista
Rio Vista is River View in Spanish and the views here are spectacular! This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath river house with cowboy chic furnishings and mucho charm galore! French doors to the massive deck overlooking 180 degree views of the river, with plenty of riverside seating.
Cowboys & Indians Bunkhouses
The 2 bunkhouses are side by side, separate, but under the same roof. Their layouts are identical: 1 huge bedroom of (5) sturdy twin bunkbeds and huge camp-style bathroom that includes 2 showers, 2 toilets & 2 sinks.
Gone Fishin & Lone Star cabins are super cute 2 bd/1 bath, have big porches & great views.
